High blood pressure may seem like a harmless mechanism at first because the force it pushes against the walls of the arteries takes time to cause damage. General dietary advice
Reduce the amount of salt in your food and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
As the NHS explains, salt increases blood pressure. The more salt you eat, the higher your blood pressure.
“Try to eat less than 6 g (0.2 oz) of salt a day, which is about a teaspoon,” advises the NHS.
