Lauren Hemp believes that City’s battle point in Saturday’s thrilling Manchester derby can help jump-start our season.
The City winger put on a superb display in what was a throbbing 2-2 draw in the derby at Leigh Sports Village.
After being reduced to 10 players after Georgia Stanway was sent off, City took a well-deserved lead in the first half thanks to a header from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw.
However, two goals in the five minutes of the second half seemed to have ensured United’s victory.
But the City showed great character by counterattacking to claim a tie through Ellen White’s last alternate leveler.

And while reflecting on what an action-packed match was, Hemp said he believed both the result and the form of the derby could help boost City’s campaign after a series of difficult results.
“I’m very proud of how we turned things around this week, it just shows how united the whole team is and I hope this is the turning point,” said the England international.
“We were very disappointed with how it started, but, as I say, I hope this is the turning point.
“The courage and determination that we show through play …
“It was unfortunate to go down to 10 men, but I think the character that we showed by going up 1-0 and then finding out that we were down 2-1, I think the fighting and determination throughout the game was top-notch.
“We really haven’t been in shape the last few weeks.

“We have worked very hard in training this week and I think today we show the quality of this team, that’s what you want in the Manchester derbies.
“I think we did it justice and I am very proud of the team.
“Obviously United are a really good team and we give them credit, but we show how well we can play even with 10 players.”
After three consecutive defeats in the FA Women’s Super League, the point was the perfect response from Gareth Taylor and his players.
And Hemp added that it was also a testament to the group’s togetherness.
“It was important that we recovered from the recent results,” he added.
“The character of every person in that field. I am proud of everyone.
“This is just the beginning for us and hopefully now we will continue and get the results we deserve.”
