A man has been jailed for 13 years for raping a girl at 16th birthday.

Prince Irving, 28, attended a party two years ago in a rented apartment in Cardiff, where the teenager passed out after cocaine was added to her drink.

She woke up to find herself in a bedroom where another man was raping her, and Irving later raped her himself.

Judge Daniel Williams at Newport Crown Court told her: ‘She screamed in pain as he raped her and told him to stop, but he didn’t. Your response was a vile boast that she couldn’t handle it.

In a statement on the victim’s impact read yesterday by prosecutor Matthew Cobbe, the girl said the rape had limited her ability to lead a normal life.

She said: ‘I went out to celebrate my birthday and ended up in the middle of a nightmare. Every year that I celebrate my birthday will be the anniversary of my attack.

A teenage girl was gang-raped on her 16th birthday after being given a drink laced with cocaine and woke up to find men assaulting her. The victim attended a party in Cardiff in 2019 and was taken advantage of by rapist Prince Irving and others and added a Class A drug to her drink, causing her to pass out. After his arrest, Irving, 28, claimed he had never been to Cardiff, but a swab taken from the victim was found to have a positive match to his DNA. “I already have little social life and my self-confidence is very low. I am too eager to go out at night and am reluctant to leave the safety of the house.

Sometimes I feel like the memory of the attack fades a bit, but something triggers a flashback and I’m back where I started.

‘The incident has left me extremely cautious around men and I’m not even considering forming a relationship. It will take some time before you regain that confidence.

“It pains me to see the effect on my family; it has caused stress and anguish to all the members for whom I feel irrationally responsible.”

The girl also said her GCSE exams were affected and she didn’t think her results reflected her potential.

Irving, of Harrow in London, denied the rape and initially claimed that he had never been to Cardiff, but was found guilty after a trial.

The court heard that he became a father for the second time, but he missed the birth because he was detained in custody.
